Ting Cheng

The Taiwanese photographer and artist Ting Cheng isn't bothered about capturing real memories. Instead she constructs surreal encounters in which the viewer becomes both participator and spectator. After studying Fine Arts in Taipei, Cheng came to London to dive into the topic of Image and Communication at Goldsmith College. Building a connection between the body and the space around it, Cheng captures everyday objects and situations in snapshots that seem positively otherworldly.

Data.Anatomy(Civic) Is A New Audiovisual Installation By The Acclaimed Japanese Artist Ryoji Ikeda, Arising From A Unique Collaboration With Mitsuru Kariya, The Development Leader Of The New Honda Civic Car. Exhibited As A 3-screen Video Projection, Data.Anatomy (Civic) Immerses Viewers In An Intricate Yet Vast Audiovisual Composition Derived From The Entire Data Set Of The Car.

During The Course Of Many Conversations, The Unprecedented Step Was Taken To Invite Ikeda To Explore The Complete And Uncensored Technical Data For The Car. Using This Enhanced Understanding, Ikeda Abstracts The Complexity Of The Physical Object Into A Captivating Aesthetic Experience. Ryoji Ikeda Says Of His Work: "“As A Composer And Artist, I Compose Music, Visuals, Materials, Physical Phenomena And Abstract Concepts. For This Project, The Invisible Multi-Substance Of Data Is The Subject Of My Composition. “As A Japanese Artist I Have Great Respect For Honda’s Long Tradition Of Excellence And Innovation In Engineering. This Installation Will Reveal The Richness And Beauty Of The Ephemeral Concepts That Are Embodied Physically In The Car Itself.”Speaking About The Collaboration Mitsuru Kariya Said: “For The Past Four Years, My Team And I Have Dedicated Ourselves To The Design And Development Of The New Civic. To Have Our Work Interpreted In This Way By Ryoji Ikeda Is An Extraordinary Honour. Everyone Involved In The Project Is Thrilled By The Results. ”Data.anatomy(Civic) Will Be Exhibited In The Turbine Hall At The Iconic Kraftwerk Berlin, Kopenickerstrasse 59-73 From 19th April to 1st May 2012.

Most Recently His Work Has Been Represented In Major Solo Exhibitions At The Museum Of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, Park Avenue Armory, New York, And Museo de Arte, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota. His Exhibition db Is At The Hamburger Bahnhof Museum In Berlin Until 9 April.

Supreme previews its upcoming collaboration with Comme des Garcons Shirt, a capsule collection featuring button-down shirts, hoodies, tees, camp hats and two styles of Vans.
