GARLAND COO LAUNCHES FIRST MENSWEAR COLLECTION

© by Garland Coo

The label Garland Coo is a creative collaboration of designer Jasmin Isabel Eckerle and artist Marcel Singer, founded 2009 in the deep south of Germany. With their aesthetic beliefs both refuse to be categorized or assimilated by the establishment. Through their artistic view, both express and rise the tension between the polarities fashion – art – and so called »Heimat«. The first collection was pure womenswear, now they present the first menswear collection.

Garland Coo describes the elementary confrontation and dichotomy between civilisation, nature and mind, the collection can be described as an analogy of the cultural and natural heritage of the designers. Their roots are deeply anchored in south German culture, in the Black Forest, in their native landscape as a deep source of inspiration. The collection is a mixture between tailormade elements and avantgardistic sophisticated patterns. Slim cut silhouettes are in contradistinction to oversized capes and trousers. Tough fabrics like shag, loden, handdyed heavy cotton or leather contrasting with batiste, linen and fine woolen fabrics. It is the contrast between tradition and avantgarde, between Black Forestian heritage and metropolitan warriors, between bondage schemes and clear defined folds, handprints and handdyed fabrics.

JESSICA MILAN

Jessica Milan has always love taking photos just for fun, but decided to start take it more seriously a bit over a year ago when she started working as a model scout for a Toronto based agent, and was constantly in need of shots to get them placed. “- I just kept buying more and more equipment until finally I had a studio and was actually doing real shoots.”

She spends most of her days in either Berlin or Toronto, where she’s currently putting together shoots for some upcoming editorials, and working on a book. Her work has been featured in a few online publications, such as Plaid Mag and Regia Mag, and her work is popping up on fashion blogs all over now.
She says she’s inspired by beauty, and elaborates: “- I love shooting beautiful girls who are totally at ease with themselves and bring out their personality in front of the camera. There are also a lot of female photographers who really inspire me right now, Camilla Åkrans, Lina Scheynius, Kate Bellm and Paola Kudacki.”
Here’s some of her work:
