Four emerging designers from London via Thailand will be exhibiting their work at the prestigious Serpentine gallery to promote their home country's textiles industry...
This summer, the Serpentine Gallery will host an exclusive viewing of specially commissioned ready-to-wear collections from four young UK-based, Thai designers in a show entitled ‘Re make Re model’. Held at the gallery's Summer Pavilion 2011, designed by renowned Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, the project was collectively formed by UK-based, Thai creatives with the aim of raising awareness for Thailand’s woven textiles including Thai Silk.
In association with the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACICT) and the Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, the Re-Make Re-Model team scouted the four designers to design a capsule collection in hopes of creating a new dimension to Thai textiles. All the fabrics featured were hand-picked by the designers from the archives of the SACICT. Re Make Re Model will be introducing the designers, Central Saint Martins MA Womenswear student - Sorada Thaiwaranon - who’s interned with Richard Nicoll and A.F Vandervorst, menswear major Boat Khajeenikorn who will also be presenting a collection at the V&A, and Final Year BA Menswear student at CSM, Pun Sarasas who interned at Céline, Hermès, Azzedine Alaia, and Chloé.
Accessories designer, Rudi Joti will be collaborating with them on their collections, as a graduate of the prestigious Cordwainers, London College of Fashion who interned at Jimmy Choo Couture, the accessories & footwear departments at Alexander McQueen and assisted Charlotte Vasberg.
